HirePrinciple has partnered with a local aerospace supplier to find their next Composites Estimator due to growth! Candidates should have minimum 5 yrs exp estimating aerospace composites - including understanding of composite manufacturing/inspection processes and tooling typical for aerospace industry as well as preparing/presenting formal commercial quotations to customers.

Job Title: Estimator, Composites

Department: Engineering

Reports To: Director of Engineering

 

Position Summary:

Estimator must work with Marketing, Engineering, Production, Quality, and Supply Chain to accurately estimate composite manufacturing projects. Estimator shall combine material pricing information, supplier quotes, in-house labor, and overhead in order to complete a comprehensive and professional proposal to the customer, which will result in commercial profit for the company. Projects shall emphasize composite components, however additional quoting in support of sheet metal assembly projects and other aircraft components also required. The Estimator will be responsible to receive the Request for Quote from the customer, compile all necessary information, clearly communicate with the customer and suppliers, and create a formal professional response for the customer.

 

Duties and Tasks:

  • Maintain accurate files and documents used to estimate each project.

  • Maintain a log of projects already estimated and current projects in work.

  • Work to prioritized task list to assure all quotes or proposals are completed on time to the customer.

  • Analyze production specifications and plant capacity data and performs mathematical calculations to determine manufacturing processes, tools, and human resource requirements.

  • Research how to established and incorporate new guidelines for new programs, manufacturing sequences and lead times through work centers.

  • Understand sequence of fabrication, assembly, installation, and other manufacturing operations.

  • Project standard hours earned for existing and new jobs.

  • Seek guidance and direction as necessary for performance duties

  • Communicate with management with regard to status of work being performed.

  • Applying the necessary effort necessary to complete the proposal or project to the most professional level.

  • Maintaining the work area in a neat and orderly manner

  • Maintaining a well groomed appearance appropriate for the position and situation.

  • Respecting the confidentiality of the Company, customer, and personnel information.

  • Performing other duties and tasks as may be assigned from time to time by the supervisor.

  • Assist and train other employees as needed.

Education:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.

  • College degree preferred (technical degree preferred.

 

Experience:

  • At least 6 years of working in an aircraft company required.

  • At least 4 years of aircraft estimating experience required.

  • At least 5 years of Composite Estimating required.

  • Preferred knowledge of supplier base for sheet metal, machined parts, and composite parts in the Wichita, Kansas area.

  • Preferred composite manufacturing experience (Engineering/ Manufacturing)

  • Computer skills required, Microsoft Word, Excel.

 

Technical Skills:

  • Ability to read and understand blueprints.

  • Ability to create technical writing which is clear, formal, and easy to read, and present to the customer in a professional manner.

  • Ability to produce reports, spreadsheets, and tracking documents which are used to support commercial profit, and can be used to formulate future proposals.

  • Ability to interface with the customer and suppliers on a professional level.

  • Ability to perform necessary research required to comply with customer requests.

  • Ability to understand and communicate commercial terminology.

  • Ability to stand and/or sit 7 to 9 hours a day

  • Ability to lift/carry up to 25 - 50 lbs

  • Ability to bend and stoop 3 to 5 hours a day

  • Ability to reach 3 to 5 hours a day

  • Ability to communicate clearly at all times

  • Ability to understand and follow work orders, shipping orders and process specs

 

Work Environment:

  • Air conditioned/heated plant and/or office environment

  • Safety eyewear required

  • Some lint particles in air

 

Language Skills:

Ability to understand and follow documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and process specs and follow directions.

 

 

Contract-to-hire position.
