Vactor

Under the supervision of the Lead Vactor, the Voice Actor (Vactor) is responsible for interacting with and entertaining guests while performing both as a cartoon character with the 4D immersive and interactive 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea Adventure, as well as a Show Host in rotation along with the current roster of Vactors/Hosts.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Vocally impersonate a designated cartoon character in order to present both comedic scripted and improvisational material to an audience in an engaging and exciting manner through both one-on-one and group interaction
  • Utilize the digital puppetry skills necessary to portray an iconic cartoon character
  • Memorize music, lyrics, and dialogue, which include both a Show Host and Character script
  • Encourage and sustain a positive family-friendly guest experience for our guests
  • Maintain a consistently outstanding, electrifying, and quality performance regardless of audience size or participation
  • Constructively apply performance notes given by Lead Performer pursuant to standards outlined by Moody Gardens- notes may critique vocal performance and/or digital puppetry techniques 
  • Any and all other duties as assigned; duties are subject to change as management deems necessary to best serve the needs of Moody Gardens

Requirements and Skills

EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Theatrical, performance, and entertainment experience and skills are preferred

 

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Must be reliable and responsible
  • Public speaking and improvisational skills are required
  • Video gaming skills (manual dexterity with an X-Box Controller) are preferred
  • Candidates must have the aptitude and attentiveness required to perform with an open microphone
  • Position requires frequent contact with co-workers and continuous direct contact with guests.  
  • Must be charismatic, energetic, outgoing, and family-friendly
  • Must be dependable, have the ability to exercise sound judgment, be able to plan and be well organized and have excellent oral and written skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure and take initiative to solve problems quickly

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Manual/bi-manual dexterity, fine motor skills, hand/eye coordination, near vision, and excellent hearing and speech are required
  • Frequent standing, walking, stepping up/down, bending, and reaching is required
  • Must be capable of lifting a minimum of 50 pounds
  • Must be capable of climbing ladders and stairs
  • Routine exposure to bright lights, loud noises, and heat can be expected
